The Tail Sniffer follows the aircraft you care about by tail number: where they are now, where they’re going, every flight they make, and an alert the moment they take off and land. Built for pilots, aircraft owners, operators, schedulers and management teams.
Private and business aircraft can be tracked by tail number like any other, as long as they broadcast their position.
Some owners enroll their aircraft in the FAA’s LADD program (Limiting Aircraft Data Displayed) to keep its movements private. The Tail Sniffer shows LADD aircraft only to verified aviation professionals and aircraft owners who add LADD to their plan. Flight plans for LADD aircraft are shown only to the aircraft’s owner or operator, or staff they authorize, after a quick review.
Some aircraft show limited or no activity for other reasons, such as gaps in coverage. Why some aircraft have limited visibility.
Yes. Add the tail number (the registration, such as N123AB) and The Tail Sniffer follows that aircraft from then on: where it is now, every flight it makes, and an alert when it takes off and lands.
Yes. Business jets, turboprops and piston aircraft can all be tracked by tail number, as long as they broadcast their position. Aircraft whose owners have asked for privacy are handled differently; see the section on private and LADD aircraft.
Yes. Departure and landing alerts arrive by email, and by push notification on the iPhone and Android apps. Most landing alerts arrive within a few minutes of touchdown.
For most aircraft on a filed flight plan, yes: the destination and estimated arrival time, plus upcoming flights the aircraft has filed before it leaves.
The free plan tracks up to 3 aircraft with the last 30 days of history. Pro is $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year for 15 aircraft, the full flight history, push alerts and no ads.
