Privacy Policy

The Tail Sniffer is an aircraft tracking platform operated by Roxstar Labs ("we," "us," or "our"). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website at thetailsniffer.com and our iOS application (collectively, the "Service").

Account Information

When you create an account or request access, we collect your name and email address and, where you provide them, your company or organization name, professional role, country (and state or region), phone number, and aviation certificate type. This information is used to run your account and, for features with additional requirements (such as viewing aircraft in the FAA's LADD program), to confirm that you are eligible.

Payment Information

If you buy a subscription, payment is handled by Stripe on the web or by Apple in the iOS app. We never see or store your full card number. We receive your subscription status, plan, renewal date, and billing email so we can provide what you paid for and send receipts and billing notices.

Usage Data

We collect basic analytics about how you use the Service, including pages visited and features used, through Vercel Analytics. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. We also record a per-user last-active timestamp so we can understand which accounts remain in regular use; this is stored on your profile and is not shared.

Email Engagement

Notification emails we send may include open-tracking pixels and link wrapping so we can record whether emails are delivered, opened, or clicked, and whether they bounce or are reported as spam. These signals help us monitor deliverability and product quality, and may be used in aggregate to describe overall engagement (for example, in future sponsor or partnership conversations). We do not sell individual engagement data, and you can disable email notifications at any time from Settings.

Aircraft Data

Aircraft information, tracking data, and related records that you add to the platform are stored in association with your organization. This data is derived from publicly available aviation data and is not considered personally identifiable information.

• To create and manage your account, and to confirm eligibility for features that require it
• To process subscriptions and send receipts and billing notices
• To provide aircraft tracking, flight history, and notification features
• To send email notifications you have opted into (departure, arrival, and detection alerts)
• To send transactional emails related to your account (account access, password reset, billing, support responses)
• To respond to support requests you submit
• To improve the Service based on aggregated usage patterns

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We use the following service providers to operate the platform:

• Supabase — database hosting and authentication
• Vercel — application hosting and analytics
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Stripe — payment processing for web subscriptions
• Apple and RevenueCat — in-app purchases and push notifications in the iOS app
• Cloudflare Turnstile — protecting sign-up and forms from automated abuse
• Google — advertising shown on free accounts and public pages (see Cookies)
• Flight-data providers — aircraft position and flight data (no personal information is shared)

These providers process data solely to deliver the Service and are bound by their own privacy policies.

Your account information is retained for as long as your account is active. Flight history and position data may be retained to provide historical tracking features and related service functionality. If you delete your account, your profile and personal information are permanently removed. Aircraft and flight data associated with your organization may be retained if other users in the organization still have active accounts.

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page within the app. Account deletion is permanent and removes your profile, personal information, and notification preferences. To request deletion by email, contact support@thetailsniffer.com.

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication with hashed passwords, and row-level security policies that ensure users can only access data belonging to their organization.

The Service uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. Supabase authentication tokens are stored in secure, HTTP-only cookies. Free accounts and public pages may show ads served by Google, which may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads; you can manage ad personalization in Google's Ads Settings. Paid subscribers are not shown ads.

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. You can update your name and notification preferences in Settings. You can delete your account entirely from the Settings page. For any other requests, contact us at support@thetailsniffer.com.

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Accounts are intended for adults.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
