Tail Sniffer shows live aircraft using data from airplanes.live, a community-run, enthusiast-owned ADS-B network. No corporate owner, no paywall on the raw data. It exists because aviation people refused to let open flight tracking get bought up and locked down.
The network runs on volunteers who put a small receiver at their location and feed what it hears back to the community. More feeders = better coverage, especially in the gaps between big cities.
A feeder is a small Raspberry Pi and an antenna. It runs itself 24/7 and doesn't have to be on your roof. A window works. A hangar, an FBO, or a house in a quiet part of the map is gold.
Set one up: airplanes.live/get-started →Tail Sniffer runs on airplanes.live and supports the network to help keep it independent. If Tail Sniffer is useful to you, the best thank-you is to feed.
